Organ, trumpet, guitar, and co-founder of the group
Lanny was born and raised in Knoxville, TN. He graduated from Central High School. Lanny was one of the band members who showed the versatility of the group. If we were playing a song that needed brass, Lanny played the trumpet. Playing a Beatles tune used primarily a 3-guitar sound. Then Lanny would strap on his guitar and strum away. But on most songs, Lanny was rocking out on the organ.
After the True Tones broke up, Lanny teamed up with Richard Way (former True Tones drummer) to form a group called Sons and Lovers, which consisted of 3 men and 3 women. The group enjoyed some success locally and did a little touring.
Lanny currently has a combo called Heart and Soul in which he and his band partner, Val, team up to play a variety of musical instruments, producing a rich sound of music and vocals. Lanny is even trying his hand (voice) on doing a little singing. Lanny still has a lot of enthusiasm for music and probably will continue exploring new ways to create and perform musically.
